A FISH and chip shop employee in Worcester has helped raise almost £1,500 for Acorns Children's Hospice.
Joss Avery, an assistant at the Bath Road Chippy in Worcester, ran a half-marathon in Cheltenham on Sunday, September 27, in aid of the good cause.
She promoted her 13.1-mile challenge through the shop and kind-hearted customers have donated £1,450.
"It was a really hard run but I enjoyed it and I am glad I did it", said the 23-year-old, who had never run a half-marathon before.
"There were so many people cheering us on, which was great, and to reach the finish line was amazing.
"I feel proud to have raised so much money, as I initially only thought we'd raise a few hundred pounds."
She completed the half-marathon in two hours and 29 minutes, just under her target of two and a half hours.
Mike Mavris, manager of the Bath Road Chippy, which has supported Acorns Children's Hospice before, added: “It has all been absolutely superb.
"Joss has done really well and we'd like to thank all of our customers for being so generous.
"It was a great feeling to hand over the money to such a good cause."
