COUNTY communities which want to go green are being offered grants of up to £30,000 to help.
The grants, from E-on, one of the UK's leading green generators, could be used for everything from wind turbines on community hall roofs to extra insulation to reduce fuel bills.
The fund forms part of a new web resource - called Source - created to help not-for-profit groups find out how they can lower their carbon emissions and so help the fight against climate change.
Tim Pyke, head of climate change for E-on UK, said: "We all have a part to play in reducing carbon emissions and using more sustainable energy solutions and this is our way of making sure that everyone has the opportunity to do that."
The website has been designed to help community groups which are seeking to generate their own energy from sustainable sources and become more efficient users of energy.
Applications for funding will be reviewed three times a year. The next application deadlines are on August 24 and then December 21.
