MIKE Ashton, has taken over as the chief executive of the Chamber of Commerce Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
He joins after four years as chief executive of ChamberLink in Greater Manchester and brings a wealth of experience from a career spanning three decades in both the private and public sectors. During that time he has been involved in the development of new and innovative programmes in enterprise, education, economic development and business.
Mike's appointment at the Chamber follows a recruitment campaign which resulted in more than 90 applications and more than a dozen interviews for the post.
"I'm delighted to join the Chamber of Commerce and aim to further develop the organisation to make it a vibrant membership organisation," he said.
"The Chamber is already a focal point for business in Herefordshire and Worcestershire and is recognised regionally, nationally and internationally as such. Because we are a free-standing and independent organisation we are in a prime position to lobby on behalf of members at the highest levels.
"Our networking opportunities, which are so important to many businesses, will be enhanced together with the employee and commercial services which help reduce costs, retain staff and ease the burden of running a business."
Mike, aged 51, is moving to the area with his wife and two children.
