Corporal J C Green - Fourth Battalion. Private F J Preston - Second Battalion.
ROLLING CASUALTY COUNT: 2,507
Second Battalion worked on new trench throughout the night, heavy shelling, men wounded. Work was held up for two hours when Adjutant Captain Ralston was mistaken for a spy while on reconnaissance for this trench, by the Coldstream Guards and marched under escort to Batt HQ. Men of the Special Gas Company collected empty gas cylinders and filled in the old emplacements with sandbags. Constant heavy shelling.
Artillery Brigade: working on reserve trenches at Bayencourt. It is monotonous and arduous work and they were praised for effort.
