A 19-year-old Worcester man drank 10 pints of lager before he drove his mother's car into a parked car, a court heard.
Daniel Gardner, of Canterbury Road, Ronkswood, pleaded guilty to being twice the legal drink drive limit as well as driving without a licence or insurance when he appeared before the city's magistrates on Friday.
Lesley Ashton, prosecuting, said Gardner was found to have 77mcg of alcohol in his breath when tested by police. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Earlier, Gardner had met a friend at the Exchange in the Cornmarket, Worcester, before heading off to Lloyd's No1 Bar in Crown Passage, Worcester, on Saturday, April 14.
It is estimated the pair had six pints each before they caught a train to Gardner's friend's house in Droitwich and had another four or five pints there. Gardner returned home about 9pm, before deciding to make a trip to the shops half an hour later.
"What he did then was to clearly take the keys to her vehicle and drive away in her car," said Miss Ashton.
"He went to sit in the car and listen to a cd. However, when the keys were in the ignition he felt tempted to drive it to a friend's house in Carlisle Road."
However, when Gardner realised his friend was not in he got back in the car, turned the ignition, stalled and shunted forward one metre because it was left it in gear.
The police were called to the scene.
Nick Roberts, defending, was not invited to speak in mitigation and the case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared. Gardner has been released on unconditional bail to return on Wednesday, June 20.
