THE headteacher of a Worcester school has praised police for cracking down on vandals.
Last month the Worcester News revealed Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College in Timberdine Avenue had been targeted by vandals, who smashed windows and damaged railings during the Easter holiday.
Headteacher Sean Devlin said since then, PC Andy Chuter and community support officer Jason Atkins have been stepping up patrols in the area.
"They have been very proactive in policing to ensure that this doesn't recur," he said.
"This includes night patrols and speaking with the community."
Mr Devlin said the school had extended its CCTV coverage, with 15 cameras covering the entire site.
He said there had been no trouble since it opened its tennis courts to the public for the summer following the Easter break.
"All we ask is that people use them responsibly and enjoy them," he said.
Anyone with information about the vandalism can call police on 08457 444888, quoting 98S/130407.
