A COLLECTION of art work by world famous artists such as Picasso are to be sold at an auction in Ledbury.
Picasso, Francis Bacon, Sir Stanley Spencer, Henry Moore, Jean Cocteau and popularist painter Jack Vettriano are all household names in the art world but their work is often only available from the top London galleries.
But auctioneers John Goodwin have been asked to deal with the sale of the works by these and other well known artists in their forthcoming sale at the Pavilion Rooms, Ledbury, on Wednesday, May 16.
The private collection, all part of a local dead person's estate is attracting national interest.
Chris Maulkin of John Goodwin said: "It is very rare that works by one of these well known artists become available through provincial sale rooms.
"To be instructed to deal with such a prestigious collection is great for us as auctioneers, and also great for Ledbury, giving local people an opportunity to see and to complete for such good quality artwork.
"While some of the paintings are expected to achieve four figure sums many are expected to be in the hundreds rather than thousands presenting an affordable investment opportunity and something to get the neighbours talking."
Details of the sale are available from Chris Maulkin at the Ledbury office of John Goodwin on 01531 634648
