VOLUNTEERS in Worcester are needed to collect funds for the British Red Cross.

The charity needs helpers during its appeal week, from Sunday, May 6, to Saturday, May 12, to collect cash at locations around the city.

Vic Anstey, area fund-raising manager, said: "During Red Cross appeal week we rely on our fantastic volunteers giving their time to collect locally in aid of the Red Cross.

"We couldn't do it without them, but the more collectors we have, the more we can raise, so we are urging people to sign up this year."

Volunteers will not be required to collect for more than two hours during the appeal week.

Last year, collections around the UK raised more than £1 million to support vulnerable people living in this country and overseas.
