SPECULATION that Gavin Henson and girlfriend Charlotte Church are heading to Worcester has gone into overdrive since it was confirmed Mike Ruddock is to be the new Warriors rugby chief.

When Ruddock was coaching the Welsh team in 2005 he not only led them to a Grand Slam victory in the Six Nations but helped Henson secure his status as a star player.

Yesterday websites were buzzing with speculation that Henson will be signed by Worcester, leading the way for girlfriend Charlotte, who is expecting their first child, to join the supporters at Sixways.

On one unofficial supporters site, a fan wrote: "I think under the right guidance Henson would be a great talent and would welcome him to the club."

Another said: "Yes, please. His profile is exactly what this club needs to move it onto the next stage."

But not everyone agreed. Another supporter wrote of the famously vain Henson: "NO HENSON please - I struggle to find a decent sunbed, manicure and haircut as it is, without him monopolising them all."

Ruddock refused to rule out a move for Henson. "We'd be interested in any quality player. It's important that, whoever we bring in has not only got international quality but is going to fit in. I'm sure Gavin is under contract though"

Ruddock has taken over from John Brain, who lost his job as Warriors director of rugby 48 hours after the team won their relegation battle.
