Budding scientists from St Nicholas CE Middle School, Pinvin, have been chosen as one of 25 young people's groups from across the country to help decide the winner of a national prize for science book writing for children and young adults.
The Royal Society Prizes For Science Books has called on the school to help find its junior prize, where the winner will be selected entirely by young people. Each junior judging panel, including those from St Nicholas School, will choose a winner from six shortlisted books and submit their vote by today. The votes will then be collated by Ecsite-uk and the book with the most votes will win.
This week the group of year five pupils discussed the six shortlisted books.
Cath Francis, leader of science at St Nicholas says: "We are delighted to have been chosen to help judge the winning book. It will be fascinating to see which book they choose and whether it wins the overall prize."
The winner of the Royal Society Prizes For Science Books junior prize will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Royal Society on Tuesday, May 15.
