ARTISTRY, imagination and humour were evident at the annual well-dressing event in Malvern.

People dressed 27 wells and springs using the theme of Elgar's music with entries including a depiction of Elgar's bicycle called Pump And Cyclestance, a line of bottles containing different amounts of water that could be played to create a tune - and an enormous replica of Elgar's moustache.

Malvern Spa Association chairman and event organiser Rose Garrard described this year's entries as "stunning". The event is part of the association's wet weekend - named because it rained every year during the first few years it was held.

The wells were judged on Friday night and the results were as follows: lWinner of the open group section and the Malvhina Cup was the Jubilee Fountain dressed by Angela Sutton, Lois Lawler and Val Greaves.lWinner of the small group section was Lower Wyche Spout dressed by Debbie and Jeff Sly.lWinner of the children's cup was Hayslad Spout by Jake and Holly Love, Jessica Basset and Luke.

lWinner of the chairman's prize was St Ann's Well dressed by Karyn Claxton and Juliette Mootz.
