THE 2007 Tesco Computers for Schools voucher collection period is drawing to a close and shoppers have only two weeks left to collect vouchers for their local schools.

Since the scheme began 16 years ago, customers across the country have collected millions of vouchers for local schools. Last year, Tesco donated more than £9.5 million worth of computer equipment to the tens of thousands of schools in the scheme, including computers, interactive whiteboards and digital movie creators.

Debra Stones, head of corporate responsibility at Tesco, said: "Over 30,000 schools are taking part in this year's greener' Computers for Schools scheme. Customers have until Sunday, May 13, to collect vouchers and make this year's scheme the most successful to date."

Tesco Computers for Schools was the first initiative of its kind, and remains the most successful.

Tesco customers are given one Computers for Schools voucher for every £10 they spend in store, to donate to a school of their choice Schools can then pick and choose equipment from the extensive range available in the catalogue, or bank' their vouchers until next year.
