JOUSTING knights and jugglers will bring the Middle Ages to life at a Herefordshire castle.

Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury, will play host to an arms and armour and mediaeval re-enactment for the bank holiday weekend.

The event, called Armouritis, will be held on Sunday, May 6 and Monday, May 7, between 11am and 4.30pm.

The famous collection of more than 50 suits of armour is the second largest privately-owned collection in Britain and was collected by Charles, third Earl Somers of Eastnor, in the mid-19th century.

David Edge, one of the country's leading experts on arms and armour, will be giving talks on the Eastnor collection throughout the day.

There will be displays of fighting knights in a purpose-built arena and armour making demonstrations, a large living history camp in the grounds with soldiers, a knight on horseback, musicians, jugglers, falconry, mediaeval cookery and dancing. One of the highlights of this event will be displays of cannons and firearms with the Kynge's Ordynaunce group.

There will also be a giant working replica trebuchet - mediaeval catapult, which will fire cabbages across the castle lake. Eastnor's usual attractions will also be available.
