Design a realistic rock garden
1. Make sure you have a natural slope for construction or it won't look convincing. The strata lines of the rock should run in a similar direction for a natural effect.2. Use the same types of rock throughout the rock garden, preferably a type which is in keeping with the surroundings, sourced from a local quarry or stone merchants. Choose a range of sizes but include some really large key stones and dig holes big enough so that each rock will be around 50 per cent under the soil, to really secure them.3. Place your rock garden in a dry, sunny spot to give yourself more choice of alpine plants.
