THE compelling story of Sir Edward Elgar's final years is to be performed in Pershore.
Stirring The Spirit, by Justin Pearson, sees Elgar as a complex and fascinating character, a man who once found his music "in the air and written on the clouds" who is now, in later life, confined to a nursing home in Worcester.
Elgar is being played by David Graham and his daughter Carice is being played by Pippa Rathborne.
The five-piece Locrian Ensemble will perform some of Elgar's best loved music, including Nimrod from Enigma Variations, the opening of his Cello Concerto, Salut D'Amour, In Moonlight and the moving Piano Quintet.
The show is at Pershore's Number 8 Community Arts Centre on Friday, May 25.
For tickets, £15, call the box office on 01386 555488.
