THE families of two Worcestershire teenagers killed in a road accident on the A449 have set up a memorial fund to honour their children.

The parents of Martyn Pickering, aged 18, from Droitwich, and Stephanie Goodall, 16, from Worcester, will launch the Stephanie and Martyn Memorial (SAMM) with a summer fund-raising event. The pair were killed when the car in which they were travelling left the A449 near Ombersley on December 10, 2006. Kyle Gadsby, from Droitwich, and Joanne Bibby, from Worcester, were also killed in the accident.

Now, with the help of a Droitwich firm, the teenagers' parents will be lending their support to a SAMM event to be held at St George's playing fields, off Briar Mill, Droitwich, on June 9. The event will be used to help officially launch the fund.

A five-a-side football tournament, tombola, face painting, market stalls, truck displays and other attractions are planned for the day.

A day-time disco will also be held at Droitwich Leisure Centre, as well as a barbecue. Droitwich firm DHL Exel, which Martyn did some work for, has also offered to match the amount raised during the day.

A night-time adult-only event will then take place at Worcester Rugby Club where Smooth FM DJ Mike Hollis will host a raffle, auction, disco and buffet.

There will be balloons released to remember the four teens or help raise cash for the fund.

All money raised from the event will be divided between the parents of Martyn and Stephanie.

Anyone who would like to be involved in the event, enter a football team or get a market stall pitch, should call Terry Orpe on 01905 794777.
