MORE than 100 young people travelled to Perdiswell Skate Park on Saturday, April 14, to take part in a rollerblading competition, hosted by professional rollerblade Si Coburn.

The day began with an under 13s group giving it their all in a 30-minute jam to win some of the many prizes on offer. Ten-year-old Seb Newman came first for performing daring and difficult tricks, closely followed by Josh Barnett and Josh Bradley.

Next came the 13-16s group, with Lewis Barsons in first place, Chris Cox second and Matt Dolphis third.

The three winners of each group were then entered into a showdown to name the overall winner of the Perdi Jam 2007. Josh Bradley took this position and won a £50 UK skate voucher for his overall skating.

All of the young people then skated to win spot prizes for landing specific tricks named by the judges. After an open skate and entertainment from local band Reckless and local DJs, a group of over 16s competed for more prizes, with first place won by professional skater Scott Bagnall.

All of the prizes won were donated and included a pair of skates, wheels and frames from Two Season, £100 in vouchers, hoodies and T-shirts from UKskate and £50 in vouchers from Treds. The day was a huge success and everyone had a great time and are already looking forward to the next competition.

Our next big competition will be held on Sunday, July 15. This event will be a packed day of fun and activities and will be open for all young people whether they skate or not. The competition will also be open for bladders, BMXs and boarders.
