THE viability of a scheme to redevelop a former goods yard in Worcester has been questioned by Worcester City Council officers.
Modwen Properties has applied to turn the site in Tolladine Road, Worcester, into a number of units for new businesses with offices and landscaping.
However, officers believe the plans should be rejected because the development would be visually intrusive as it is situated on a main entry route into the city.
They are also concerned that nearby homes could suffer from heightened noise, fumes, dust and vibrations as a result of the new business units being created. Other issues highlighted were the problem of what would happen to buildings of local interest and the lack of a strategy for relocating slow worms from the site.
However, officers have said the plans would help secure employment land which is needed and believe the problems may be resolved with negotiation.
Councillors will decide at a planning meeting on Thursday, April 26.
