WORCESTER MP Mike Foster said a newly-built city primary school has the wow factor.
Last week the new Red Hill CE Primary School, in Midhurst Close, was unveiled to pupils and parents after 15 months of building work.
Mr Foster said he was thrilled with the new school, where his 10-year-old son Mark is a pupil.
"I saw a new school, probably the best in the county if not the country, and along with many other parents, I said wow," he said.
"I also saw school children enter their new hall and use the new climbing apparatus for the first time - they too said wow'.
"This school has everything. It is state of the art in its equipment, its quality and its environmentally friendliness.
"The comparison with the old school, which as a parent I despaired of, and this new one is so great it takes your breath away."
Mr Foster's daughters, 13-year-old Lucy and 15-year-old Katie, are former pupils of the school, as is his wife Shauna.
The site cost £3.5m to build and has many environmental features, including a ground source heating system and a facility to store rainwater in underground tanks to use to flush toilets.
Youngsters were taught in temporary classrooms on the site while the old building was demolished and the new one built in its place.
It has been described as a flagship in design.
The majority of the temporary accommodation will be removed later this month.
