Minimise slug and snail damage
1. Take a torch out in the evening, particularly after rain, and pick them off by hand. It may be labour intensive but it is still the best way to zap them.2. Place a ring of gritty sand and eggshells around susceptible plants such as hostas.3. Consider placing vulnerable, leafy plants in containers away from walls (which slugs and snails can climb) and on a metal stand, which is difficult for them to get a hold on.
