A FAMOUS football pundit visited a school and hosted a race night at a pub in Worcester to help raise money for charity.

Chris Kamara - who presents Sky Sports' Goals on Sunday programme and also does additional commentary for the television network - spent the day in the Faithful City to help raise awareness of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The 49-year-old former Swindon Town, Stoke City and Brentford footballer, who also played for and managed Bradford City, gave a talk at Bishop Perowne CofE High School, Merriman's Hill, Barbourne, before making a guest appearance at the Winning Post's charity race night. The premises in Pope Iron Road, Barbourne, managed to raise about £3,000 from the event.

Chris Kamara said: "I've been involved with Marie Curie for quite a number of years because when my mum died she had a Marie Curie nurse that looked after her, cooked for her, cleaned, ironed, all sorts, and she got paid a pittance for it."

Although it was his first visit to Worcester, he said he was impressed with the city's historical past and main tourist attractions.

"We walked along the racecourse, passed the cricket ground, and went to the Cathedral which I was really impressed with, it was really brilliant. I will certainly come here more often," he said.
