FIREFIGHTERS used 1,200 gallons of water to tackle a fire in a lorry transporting liquid sugar.
The cab of the vehicle burst into flames near the Full Pitcher Pub roundabout on the Ledbury bypass at about 8.45am yesterday.
The driver escaped without injury and firefighters from Ledbury and Evesham managed to bring the fire under control by about 10am.
An environmental protection unit was called in case the container carrying the sugar split, but there was no spillage. Police officers were on hand to direct traffic. 16450801
