A DRUNK woman who fell into the river Severn was rescued by police and a quick thinking member of the public.
At around 4.30pm yesterday, Beppe Tirelli, aged 33, of Bromyard Road, St John's, was walking along the river bank in Hylton Road when he heard a scream.
"I went down to the water and saw this woman saying help me, I'm stuck'," he said. "So I jumped in and helped get her to safety."
Four police officers arrived and helped Mr Tirelli pull the unnamed woman out of the water and onto the bank.
She was treated at the scene by ambulance at 4.50pm and taken to Worcester police station to sober up.
