THE Worcester Group WI held its spring meeting, hosted by St Peter's WI, last month.
The hall looked splendid with daffodils on the tables and pretty green cloths. Barbara Maskell, of Chaddesley Corbett WI, had put on a display of Japanese items which she has collected over many visits to Japan since the marriage of her daughter to a Japanese man.
A great raconteur, she told us all about how they met and got married Japanese style. It was a wonderful talk and she was warmly thanked by Dilys Round.
Executive guest Christine Hickman-Smith gave a brief talk on recycling. We think we all do it but, after her informative talk, we realised that we can still do more. She was thanked by Susan Oakley who also thanked Morag Ford for coming to the meeting.
Sixty-four members enjoyed a ploughman's supper prepared by the committee members from St Peter's WI who were thanked by Sheila Tapping, of Pumphouse WI. The raffle was drawn for the open bursary given by the group each year and Oak Apple WI were the winners.
There was a great raffle and many members went home with lovely prizes.
Members were reminded about the group outing on June 27 to Waddesdon Manor. Further details can be obtained by phoning 01905 456984.
