Get veg off to an early start.
1. Sit a row of cloches over the soil now to warm it up ready for sowing seeds. leave them in place until the plants fill them or the weather warms up sufficiently.2. Invest in a mini-greenhouse if you haven't space for a normal one. You can buy small, lean-to types which fit against a wall, opening up the front for watering and ventilation. They are ideal for hardening off plants or raising a few seedlings.3. Use fleece to throw over plants on cold spring nights to protect young growth from frost damage. Lightweight netting can also be put over fruit and vegetable crops to protect them from pests such as flea beetle and brassica whitefly.
