A WORCESTER council officer is going to be pounding the streets of London later this month when he takes part in the annual marathon.
Simon Whitehead, of Astwood Road, a senior marketing and communications officer for Worcestershire County Council, will be running the 26.2 mile race for the national deafblind charity Sense on Sunday, April 22.
This will be the 28-year-old's first attempt at a marathon. He has been training hard, doing 18-mile runs across the city.
So far, Mr Whitehead has raised £850 and is aiming to reach £1,400 for Sense.
Deafblindness is a combination of both sight and hearing difficulties. Sense offers a vital lifeline to deafblind people, offering them support and teaching them skills to live as independently as possible.
