A KIND-hearted animal lover has given two three-legged cats a new home.
Chris Vaughan was touched by the plight of tom cats Fudge and Sesame, who appeared in the Worcester News after staff at Danemere Animal Rescue were worried their specific injuries would put people off homing them.
But the two friendly cats struck a chord with Mr Vaughan.
The 30-year-old, of Winnipeg Close, Lower Wick, Worcester, had been searching to adopt a cat at rescue homes in the county, including the Blue Cross and the RSPCA - but went straight to Danemere after reading the article.
He said: "Two of the three-legged cats, Fudge and Sesame, were in a pen - and had to be re-homed together - and they took my eye.
"They were both pretty cats and friendly, which is what I was after. I was only really after one cat but my mind was made up after having seen the two of them together."
Both cats are thought to have lost their limbs after being involved in road accidents.
Said Mr Vaughan: "The fact that they had three legs each didn't bother me, in fact it made them more appealing as they hobbled towards me."
Following a home check, Mr Vaughan was allowed to adopt them.
"They both have big personalities and this was the best decision I've made in a long time," he said.
Dave Lannie, kennel supervisor at Danemere, said they were happy the cats could be re-homed so quickly, especially as staff thought it would be quite a task with the two having to stay together.
Mr Lannie said a one-eyed cat featured in the Worcester News article had also, hopefully, found a home and there had been some interest in Bryn the rottweiler, who has displaced elbows, but he was still at the kennels.
He said: "We also have a nice shepherd cross called Whimsy. She needs someone who can give her time and patience. She is scared and needs a good home."
There are many other animals in need of loving homes at Danemere. Anyone interested in adopting animals can call 01905 345655.
