THE lucky Worcester man who won a VW Fox in a Worcester News competition has driven away with his prize.
Geoffrey Corbyn, of Stallard Road, St John's, picked the right key to the car at a special prize evening, which was held at Listers VW Worcester at the end of March.
Sixteen finalists were at the Listers VW showroom in St John's business to find out if they would be driving home a VW Fox. Each took a turns to pick the right ball number to match an envelope with a key inside.
Mr Corbyn was the seventh person to try his luck; he turned the key to find it had worked - meaning he won the car.
The delighted 46-year- old foundry worker was able to collect his new car on Friday.
He said: "It was a brilliant day considering it was Friday the 13th. I am very happy. The news has finally sunk in that I won the car."
Spencer Grey, brand manager for Listers VW Worcester, said he was delighted the competition was a success.
"We are looking forward to having more involvement with the local community and running further competitions with the Worcester News."
Sarah Bevan, head of promotions at the Worcester News, said the competition had been a success.
"The win-a-car competition had a great response to it and we had 5,500 entrants. I hope Mr Corbyn has many happy years motoring in his new VW Fox."
The competition was organised by the Worcester News and Listers VW Worcester in partnership.
