TIME and space is running out for women to register their place in this year's Race for Life in Worcester.
So far, 3,470 women have registered for the Cancer Research UK Race For Life which takes place at Worcester Racecourse on Sunday, June 10.
The event, which starts at 11am, is expected to raise about £380,000 by bringing together 5,500 women.
Maria Carney, one of the Worcester Race for Life organisers, said: "There is such an amazing response to Race for Life across the country and the response we have had in Worcester is no exception.
"With one in three people developing cancer at some point in their lives, this is something that touches everybody. We all have our own personal experiences, each one different from the next, but the one thing that every woman taking part in Race for Life has in common is hope for the future and a feeling that together we will beat cancer."
She said ever since Race for Life began in 1994, more than 2.7 million women across the UK have taken part, raising more than £140 million to fund scientists, doctors and nurses who are working to help beat cancer.
"Their research ranges from understanding the biology and causes of cancer, through to developing new ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating the disease," she said.
"Thanks to cancer research, the death rate for breast cancer in the UK has fallen by a fifth over the last 10 years, more than nine out of 10 men with testicular cancer are now successfully treated, and more than seven out of 10 children with cancer now survive. We need your help to continue this work and to beat cancer - that's why I urge every woman out there to enter Race for Life today."
