A SECTION of the canal that runs between Worcester and Stafford-shire is to be dredged.
Preparation work will begin on Monday for carrying out main channel dredging between Wolverley lock and Whittington lock.
It is part of a £450,000 project planned to run for about 16 weeks. The plan involved dredged material from the bed of the canal being used with geo-textile material to form bank protection. This will allow vegetation growth and the development of wildlife habitats in the area.
Boat owners are being warned there might be delays of about 30 minutes in the areas where dredging takes place once work begins on Monday, April 23.
However, British Wat-erways said it will assist all boats through the sites.
