WORCESTER City Council has appointed a former punk rock band lead singer as the new head of governance and corporate support.
John Scarborough has been appointed to help develop city council policy, as well as head the legal services department.
Mr Scarborough was the former lead singer of 80s punk rock band Ignite and lists music as a big passion of his. He will be responsible for property services, auditing and office services at the Guildhall.
He has arrived from Cherwell Council, where he was responsible for 20 staff, but his new job means he is responsible for 50.
Mr Scarborough said: "I have joined at a very interesting time. There are major challenges ahead for both local government and Worcester City Council, such as increasing budget pressures and the introduction of the new Local Government Bill, which requires closer working with other councils against the backdrop of the need for continued improvement and efficiencies in the way we deliver services."
City council chief executive David Wareing said: "I am delighted that John is joining us - his legal skills and experience will prove invaluable in his new post."
