AN ELDERLY woman was pushed to the ground and mugged by a robber who stole her handbag.
The woman was left badly shaken after the mugger attacked her from behind and seized her bag containing £40 in cash.
The incident happened on a pathway leading from Worcester's Pitchcroft racecourse to Stephenson Road, Barbourne at 4.10pm on Wednesday.
Two women went to help the victim, walked with her to her home and waited with her until police arrived.
Spokesman for Worcester Police Richard Bull declined to reveal the age of the victim. However officers have issued a description of the attacker.
He is described as "white, quite young, with fair hair, not tall and quite athletic". He was wearing a white and blue striped shirt and jeans turned up to the knee.
