STEWARDS of a Worcester city centre church are to meet later this month to decide when it will be opening over the summer months.
St Swithun's Church, on the corner of the Shambles and St Swithin's Street, opens to the public when stewards are able to volunteer their time.
The meeting will be held at the church on Friday, April 13, at 7.30pm.
Part-time custodian and Friends of St Swithun's committee member Raymond Fowler said anyone interested in the work they do or in becoming a steward would be welcome too.
Mr Fowler said: "If there is anyone who is interested in knowing a bit more they can just come along. Or if anyone thinks they might be interested in becoming a steward they can come too.
"There is no commitment to becoming one but it would be a good chance for them to come and ask questions."
The church was originally founded in 1126 but completely remodelled between 1733 and 1735. In 1977 St Swithuns's closed as a parish church, but continues to be preserved by the Churches Conservation Trust.
At the end of last year the Churches Conservation Trust agreed to spend £10,000 repairing and cleaning 28 monuments inside the church.
Members will be deciding on dates the church will be open to visitors - and these will be announced shortly after the meeting.
