THE mother of a sex offender has spoken out and said her son is no longer welcome to live at her home.

The outburst comes after Marlene Williams said she was shocked to learn her son Peter Williams, aged 29, had told Worcester magistrates he had been living with her, her husband David and two children at their home in Shepherds Place, Droitwich.

She said Williams had been put on the sex offenders register for having sex with an underage girl.

Williams, a former heroin user, had been back in court this week when he was jailed for failing to tell police he had moved from a house in Albert Street, Droitwich, after a relationship break-up in January.

In court, he gave Mrs William's address as his home, angering his long-suffering mum. "He might be a pervert but he doesn't live here. I don't want him here," she said. "It's hard for a mother to say that, but my home is sacred to me and I've got to think of my grandchildren."

Mrs Williams, who works for a taxi company, said she wanted to set the record straight and make it clear her son had not been living at her home because she had all but disowned him.

She said she had only spoken to Williams, a former mechanic, three times since he was released from prison for theft offences in December last year.

Mrs Williams said her son had been living with friends instead.

"If I had known he was using this address for more than mail, I would have been the first one to tell the police," she said.

"He's done it so many times to us. We just give up. It looks really bad on me. All of the other children are really annoyed."

She said she was worried neighbours might have read his case in the Worcester News and changed their opinion of the family.

"Everybody around here knows what he is," she said. "To me, it doesn't matter whether people know or not as long as they leave my home alone. I don't want them knocking my door down or anything like that."

Of her son's sex offence conviction, Mrs Williams said: "It's just something we have to live with."

Williams was only found to have moved from the registered address in Albert Street when he was arrested by police for the theft of a £39.99 jacket on Thursday, March 29.

Magistrates jailed Williams for three months for failing to notify police of a change of address, and one month for theft. The sentences will run at the same time, making it a total of three months in prison.
