A NEWSAGENT has won a Worcester News competition by increasing sales of the newspaper.
David Johnson, of EE Johnson, Ombersley Road, Worcester, was thrilled to win a state-of-the-art Tom Tom satellite navigation system by boosting sales of the News.
"It's great really," said Mr Johnson, aged 55, who runs the shop with his 57-year-old brother Andrew. "I didn't think we would win because so many people were doing it. "We gave it our best shot."
The brothers managed to show the greatest percentage increase in sales for February by increasing promotion of the paper in-store with signs and stands.
Julie Bolton, Worcester News' head of retail, said: "We had a great response to this competition, which was part of our on-going strategy to work with retailers to develop sales. Initiatives such as this enable us to give something extra to our hardworking newsagents."
Astwood Road News, Rainbow Hill, and PP News, Barbourne, were runners-up.
