A NEW support group for patients with MS - and their carers - has been set up in the city.
Yvette Flynn, who was diagnosed with MS 15 years ago, has set up the weekly meetings at the Green Centre, Dines Green after a previous support group, led by community physiotherapists, had to end due to a lack of funding.
Yvette said the new group, which meets on Thursdays between noon and 1.30pm, will have many speakers giving a wide range of advice and information. "It is visited by an MS nurse every week and we also have visits by occupational therapy services, with someone teaching relaxation therapy for the future.
"We're also hoping to get a first aider in for a demonstration and have a lesson in manual handling for carers.
"It's a great way for MS sufferers and carers to get support and advice, and we also enjoy social outings."
