Herefordshire's schools performed better at key stage 3 than schools in Worcestershire.
The average point score for pupils was 35.6, compared with 35.2 in Worcestershire and a national average of 35.0.
Schools also showed a better rate of improvement in Herefordshire with a value- added score - based on the progress made by youngsters between key stage 2 and key stage 3 - of 100.2 This compared to a value added score of 100.1 in Worcestershire.
The top performing school in terms of average point score in Herefordshire was the Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School, with a score of 38.4.
The Hampton Dene Road school also scored highest for improvement in the value-added section, at 101.7, beating the county average.
The school to perform the worst in Herefordshire was Wyebridge Sports College, which got an average point score of 32.0 and a value added score of 98.8.
The highest percentage of children achieving level 5 or above in English at key stage 3 was Lady Hawkins High School (93 per cent), while Wigmore High School was top for level 5 in maths (95 per cent), and St Mary's RC High in science (91 per cent).
For level 6 or above, Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School and Lady Hawkins High topped the table with 62 per cent in English, while Bluecoat also scored the highest in maths, along with St Mary's RC High (74 per cent), while St Mary's was top at level 6 and above for maths with 64 per cent.
The lowest scoring school for level 5 and above in all subjects was Wyebridge Sports College with 55 per cent in English, 63 per cent in maths and 52 in science. For level 6 and above, lowest in the county for English was Whitecross, Hereford, with 18 per cent, while Wyebridge came bottom for maths and science, with 34 per cent and 18 per cent achieving level 6 and above.
