A LITTLE flavour of Wales is coming to the Faithful City as the Guildhall prepares to celebrate St David's Day tomorrow.
Mayor of Worcester Coun Ian Imray has called on Worcester News readers to attend the event, which will raise money for charity.
Worcester City Council bosses have organised the special St David's Day concert and have lined up the renowned Worcester Male Voice Choir for a gala performance.
Every penny raised from the night will go to the two charities chosen by the mayor - Acorns Children's Hospice and the Noah's Ark Trust.Coun Imray has helped raise £15,000 for the two charities during his term in office and hopes to break the £20,000 mark before May, when he stands down.
He said: "I can't confess to having any Welsh blood in me, but I shall be donning my daffodil with pride as the wonderful lilt of the Worcester Voice Male Choir rings around the Guildhall. It's fitting that the choir will take centre stage to help bring a little flavour of Wales to Worcester as their style is so closely associated with Welsh tradition."
The event will be held in the upstairs Assembly Room of the Guildhall at 7.30pm. A Worcester Sixth Form College's jazz group will accompany the choir.
Tickets cost £8 for adults and £6 for concessions in advance. On the door they cost £10 for adults and £8 for concessions. Tea, coffee and biscuits are in-cluded in the price.
They are available from the Worcester Tourist Information Office, High Street, Worcester, or by calling the mayor's office on 01905 722001.
