A GROUP of parents and carers are hoping to improve the lives of disabled children across the county.
The Worcestershire Parent and Carers Council is about to celebrate its first anniversary and has applied to become a charity, but the group wants more people to join and help make a difference.
Trustee and one of the founding members Jennifer Kenny said: "We want to get all different parents and carers with children with all kinds of disabilities to meet up. We did one meeting to find out what different people wanted and what services there are. We want to help improve services for disabled children because they are so poor."
The 31-year-old full-time carer of Woodmans Place, Droitwich, said a fund has been set up to put towards improving services.
"We want to get respite care for the children and get one-to-one help in schools," said the mum, whose three-year-old daughter who suffers with spina bifida.
"We want to get professionals to come to our meetings and find out what our problems are."
She said the group was also keen to improve the provisions for parents leaving hospital after giving birth.
