COMMUTERS were left stranded in Hereford railway station following a points failure.
Central trains services could only run between Birmingham and Great Malvern, passing through Worcester, and could not go as far as Hereford yesterday.
Commuters were stuck in Hereford station between 4.15pm and 5.30pm when the line was re-opened following repairs by Network Rail.
A points failure caused the derailed Virgin train in Cumbria which killed one passenger on Sunday.
A spokesman for Central Trains confirmed that the points failure happened at Shelwick junction, just outside Hereford.
