GREEN-minded people in Worcestershire have been dedicated to recycling as the latest figures reveal.
After indulging over Christmas and the new year, people have been filling up their recycling bins and bottle banks.
John Bond, Worcester City Council's environmental protection officer, said the city recycled more than ever over the festive period.
"Over the Christmas period 34.76 per cent of materials were recycled in Worcester," he said.
"The month before it was 29.38 per cent.
"It was certainly a big jump and the wheelie bins have done that for us - it makes it so much easier for people to recycle."
Malvern Hills District Council reported a large increase in the amount of glass recycled, from 127 tonnes in January 2006 to 141 tonnes this year.
In Wychavon, 21.64 tonnes of Christmas trees were recycled, shredded and then composted.
