THERE was a good attendance at the meeting on Monday, February 12, with the guest speaker Doreen Knight providing a very welcome lightening of the spirits during the somewhat unpredictable weather we have been experiencing lately.

Her talk was entitled Poetic Licence and proved to be an entertaining kind of romp through prose and verse, most elegantly presented with the flair of an actor and some appropriate items of costume.

The theme of the competition was A Limerick, Self-Composed and quite a few of us had submitted our efforts. Doreen kindly agreed to judge the entries, and Margaret Bradford was the winner, with Pat Kay runner-up.

The president, Dot Waldron, referred to the successful and enjoyable new year luncheon at The Boat And Railway Inn, Stoke Prior, which many of us were able to attend.

Margaret Bradford has kindly offered to host a summer lunch at her home - the proposed date is Wednesday, July 4.

The spring meeting of the Corbett Group will be on Wednesday, March 21, at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, Droitwich, and will be hosted by Fernhill Heath WI.

It was agreed to have a summer outing to Spetchley Park, near Worcester, a date at the end of May to be confirmed.

We were sorry to learn that two of our members - Jan Young and Wendy Hyett - would not be renewing their subscriptions this year for personal reasons, and the president recorded thanks to them for the considerable support they have given to our institute over several years.

Teas were served by Pat Tonks and Vi Hughes and Gladys Lewis' birthday cake was shared and enjoyed.

The raffle was drawn, and thanks were given to the tea duty ladies, and to Jeanne Lewis for her floral arrangement for the officers' table.

This month's meeting is on Monday, March 12, at 2pm in Wychbold Village Hall. This will be the members' meeting and there will be line-dancing, so do come in appropriate costume as the competition will be for the best outfit.
