A NEW housing development will be built after Worcester City Council's planning committee granted it permission.
Thirteen new homes will be built in Pope Iron Road, Barbourne, Worcester, adjacent to the riverside conservation area.
The development includes nine three-bed homes and four two-bedroom apartments, all of which will have one parking space.
The three-bedroom homes will be used as affordable homes and deliberately priced below market value.
Councillor Paul Denham, a member of the planning committee, said: "I welcome this. It is a better standard of design than we often see on brownfield sites. It will help provide affordable housing."
The developers will also have to put money towards providing open space for the site and will have to invest £11,973 before the start of work. They will also contribute £11,258 to Worces-tershire County Council towards education.
