LYPPARD Rangers Speedy Under 16s kept up their title hunt in the Mercian Festival Junior League with a hard-fought 3-2 win at Newtown Sports Juniors.
Speedy attacked from the start and scored within five minutes after Josh Homans intercepted a back-pass.
But Newtown picked themselves up and were rewarded mid-way into the first-half with a long-range effort.
Speedy had two efforts disallowed for offside but then Steve Jeffries hammered in a penalty following a foul on winger Ben Trainer.
Speedy created the better second-half chances and Leon Willmott headed in a third from man-of-the-match Ben Harbourne's pin-point corner.
But they dropped their guard and Newtown scored a well-deserved second.
UNDER 10s: Matt Waidson (two) and Liam Harris scored to guide Warndon Villages Vipers to a 3-0 win at Kempsey Colts in Division Two.
UNDER 12s: Oldbury Park Tigers Gold battled hard for a 4-2 win over a competitive Newtown Sports Juniors.
Poor finishing and good 'keeping by Newtown's James Cooper kept the scores level but Oldbury went ahead on 17 minutes. The ball struck a hand and Jordan Murton made no mistake from the spot.
Newtown were dangerous on the break and equalised on 23 minutes after a mix-up.
Cooper made two more vital saves before half-time but Tigers passed the ball better in the second period.
Lewis Platt rounded two defenders, the 'keeper and fired in to put Tigers back ahead.
A fine pass picked out Tom Baker to volley home a third from the edge of the area.
Another mistake allowed Newtown back into the game but Max Price sealed Tigers' victory with five minutes left.
Defender Johnny Allen was Oldbury's man-of-the-match.
Worcester Raiders beat Oldbury Park Tigers White 3-0 as man-of-the-match Aaron Davis pulled the strings in midfield.
Davis fed Luke Trainer and Aaron Roberts who put in telling crosses. Trainer opened the scoring as his attempted shot from outside the box ballooned over the 'keeper.
Jack Telford added a second with a close-range header and Sam Holmes put away a one-on-one. In the second-half, Oldbury attacked more but the Raiders defence was superb.
UNDER 13s: Ten-man Ombersley Terriers bagged a well-deserved 1-1 draw at Whittington St Peter's.
Whittington dominated possession but went behind to a superb strike from the edge of the box via the bar.
Saints pressed and their blushes were spared when Toby Mullet levelled a couple of minutes from time.
Warndon Villages Wildcats Girls earned a 7-3 victory at Alvechurch Lions.
Paige McInerney scored the only goal as Worcester Raiders Herons Girls lost 7-1 to strong Pershore Town.
UNDER 15s: Craig Bufton scored for Suffolk Rangers as they suffered their first league defeat, going down 4-1 at Evesham United Juniors.
Suffolk conceded two early goals and then missed chances until Bufton struck.
But Evesham increased their lead to 3-1 and added another in the second-half. Martin Newman and Kyonne Evans went close for Suffolk.
Warndon Villages Wildcats Girls became only the second team to take a point off leaders FC Phoenix, drawing 3-3.
