WITH a history that spans back to the 19th-Century it comes as no surprise that Kays memorabilia could fill a museum.
The Kays Heritage Group has spent the past six years building up a vast collection of artefacts relating to the giant catalogue firm.
Recently, chairman Bernard Mills was forced to find a new home for the collection, which provides a fascinating insight into the firm and includes everything from rare photographs, and newspaper cuttings to antique clocks and 120 years worth of catalogues.
Until recently it was kept in two rooms at the Bransford Road site but when Littlewoods Shop Direct announced it was moving out of the city Mr Mills began searching for new storage site.
Thankfully a Worcester business stepped forward.
Mr Mills, who did not want to name the business, which is based in Blackpole, said: "The managing director of a small company was very concerned and he very graciously came forward.
"It's all in boxes and files, there's no way you could research anything at the moment.
"The ambition is to have it on display. I have a vision that we need in Worcester, and have done for a long time, somewhere for all this history to go.
"It would attract a lot of tourists but, as I've said before, the apathy in this city towards our heritage is appalling."
Anyone who can help Mr Mills find a permanent home for the collection, with foresight to one day making it available for the public to view, can contact him on 07767692957.
