President welcomed members to our February meeting.
Happy Birthday was sung to Kate (unfortunately in her absence) and Biddy whose birthdays are later in February and Avril whose birthday is early March.
The minutes were read and signed. We had greatly enjoyed the pantomime at Ombersley and congratulated Leigh on her performance.
Invitations had been received from North Claines and Worcester Belles to their March meetings. The resolution to be put forward by Worcestershire Federation is about long-term care. We are starting our 'moon and back' project with a walk round the countryside centre on Thursday March 12 at 2.30pm. Cakes and volunteers are needed for the Three Counties Show June 12-14. Worcester Group want ideas for meeting and outings but have suggested a lady who talks on raw food and an outing to Waddesdon Manor in November. There is also a vacancy for a Group Co-ordinator. We are asked to do refreshments again at Norton Community Games on Sunday June 21. Members who wished to go and see West Side Story at the Swan in April were asked to put their names on a list sent round with a note of which day they wished to go. The majority voted for Thursday April 23.
Janet then welcomed Monika Garrido who was to demonstrate 'finger foods'. She normally goes to clients houses but had come to us prepared with mixing bowls, food processor, blender and all ingredients. She had brought lots of recipes which could be photocopied and of these she made salmon pate, chickfeed hummus, beetroot hummus, egg free mayonnaise which she used for her potato salad and coleslaw. She gave us some very good tips and we were able later to sample them all. This coincided very well with the refreshments provided by Avril and Judith of homemade cheese straws, cracker biscuits and the usual tea and coffee. There were also some tasty courgette scones made by our president Janet.
Monika was thanked for the lovely food we had enjoyed and she then judged our monthly competition for 'something cheesy' and this was won by Margaret Duffy with her decorated Babybel.
The Albrighton pot (made from our efforts at a previous meeting) was raffled and this was won by Leigh.
The main raffle was then drawn and the meeting ended at approximately 9.30pm. We meet again on Tuesday March 17 at 7.30pm at Whittington Village Hall for our birthday meeting which will be an activity evening. Please feel free to join us.
