PLANNING permission has been granted for a new steel-framed agricultural building at a Powick farm, despite concerns over its location.
The proposed development at Manor Farm in Upton Road was approved by Malvern Hills District Council’s northern area development management committee meeting on Wednesday evening (February 4).
Sarah Hawkins, who submitted the application, said at the meeting: "We want to invest in a new livestock building to help secure jobs for the future and improve livestock welfare.
"Our intention is to carry on cattle farming in Powick."
The new building is required because an existing structure is dilapidated and needs to be demolished.
Councillor Elaine Newman however expressed concerns over the proposed siting of the building in relation to footpaths and a church.
She said: "I am not opposed to the agricultural building but I do wonder if it is on the right location."
The application was approved by the committee by nine votes to three.
