MAUREEN welcomed everybody to our first meeting of 2015 and wishes us all a very happy new year. She was pleased to announce Delia Holliday and Paddy Fellows were new members who had joined us tonight. Joan read the minutes and gave out notices. Names were taken for the WODS show West Side Story at the Swan Theatre. We won four legs at our skittles but still lost to Oakapple WI by seven pins, our next match is on February 3 against Alfrick WI.
Barbara had had a letter from Mary James thanking us for the twelve filled Christmas Shoe Boxes. Members voted to fill them again next year so Barbara asked for the boxes when members bought shoes. The flower and tea rota was passed around, Maureen said next month was Fish and Chip night, members would pay £1 towards them. Mark and Paul were our speakers for the evening. They are Community Police Officers and gave us tips and hints on how to stay safe at home, on the telephone and internet. They described their working day and answered the many questions put to them by members. Maureen asked them to judge the competition "A Holiday Tea Towel" and unknowingly they picked Maureen's as the winning one.
They were thanked for a very interesting evening and for the tea towels and alarms they had given us. We added these to the raffle to give everyone a chance of winning one, Heather did this during refreshments of tea and biscuits. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday February 18 at 7.30pm in St Mark's Church Hall, visitors and new members are always welcome.
