THERE was a blast from the past at Worcester City Museum when vintage fashion to the stage in a catwalk show called Puttin' On The Blitz.
A full house turned out to enjoy two shows on Saturday (Aug 9) and even attracted TV station Forces TV to come and film it.
Organisers Clare Bridge and Jo Bourke, curators of the vintage fashion exhibition 'Fancy Pants: A Celebration of Style 1920-1945' currently on display at the Museum and Gallery, were really pleased with the response to their production.
"It was great to see so many people enjoying the show," said Mrs Bourke.
"We had some super volunteer models and put together a variety of outfits from utility day dresses to land girl uniforms, to posh evening frocks.
"They were all predominantly original 1940s items to show all the different elements of wartime fashion."
Forces TV (Sky 299) interviewed Miss Bridge, of online fashion store, Second Hand Rose, about clothes rationing and utility fashion as well as filming the catwalk show itself, to be broadcast this week as well as online.
She said: "We had a packed audience for the shows and lovely comments from people saying how it really took them back and reminded them of their childhood or mother's wardrobe, which is always a big compliment that we've got it right."
More photos and a video of the fashion show will be on the exhibition blog at celebrationofstyle1920-45.blogspot.co.uk.
There are more wartime fashions, as well as clothing from the 1920s and 30s, on display at the museum and art gallery for another month until Saturday, September 13.
