The newly elected President welcomed members to the meeting. Due to the dreadful weather, heavy rain, it had been decided that the speaker be asked to do his talk before the business part of the evening.
Mr David Howe spoke eloquently about Laughter – The best medicine which did cause chuckles and agreement amongst the members.
After coffee, the business commenced. Carolyn introduced the new Committee and they explained their roles. The tombola run at the recent May Fayre was successful. The next members coffee morning to learn more about the WI movement was to be held on August 8. Names for the regular pub lunch were to be taken by Nancy in future and there was discussion about the possibility of having a different day of the week occasionally.
Rushwick WI could have their own page on the Village Hall website and use it to advertise community events. Nominations were requested for the Worcestershire Denman Bursary and details were available about the Centenary Celebrations and the Baton progress around the country In connection with this at Worcester Guildhall on 9 September there would be a coffee morning promoting the WI movement.
A new innovation would be live screening of the 2015 Annual Conference from Leeds and tickets have already been reserved at the Redditch Palace Theatre for our members.
The Treasurer announced that Gift Aid forms were available; the Computer Bus would be coming to Rushwick on September 10 for members to take advantage of a 6 week course.
